Happy New Year!
Happy New Year 2017!
New Year 2017 is shaping up be a year when the hard fights of the past will become the hard fights of the present; ones we cannot lose.
The American Labor Movement must lead valiantly with “One Voice” as Ed Cleary, who we lost this past year, repeatedly told us during his term as President of the NYS AFL-CIO. We must strategically shout with One Voice if we are ever to win the battles that it appears, president-elect Trump is putting before us.
Thank You to All the Central New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO Affiliates and their families for your past dedication to the political process and passionate hard work in doing what ever it takes to fight for the issues that affect all Workers; there will be plenty of opportunity to come together at rallies, protests and marches in 2017, when we will stand tall to defend the American Process and the Rights of Workers. This year we will be fighting more fiercely than ever for our basic American Right; the Right to Organize.
American Workers simply want to go to work each day and earn a fair wage for that work. They don't want to utilize food pantries or be given handouts; they just want to work and be given a fair wage for it. American Workers also want regulations; regulations that secure a safe and healthy workplace and a fair Living Wage; they’re willing to pay taxes with those wages, as long as their taxes are used to make a community successful and have an equal seat at the table to help decide what makes a community successful. American Workers are also willing to fight to protect ALL Workers’ Rights and we will do it in Central New York; we will do whatever it takes to maintain the rights for the many, for we believe that an attack on any one of us is an attack on ALL of us! Have a Safe, Happy and Healthy New year 2017, rest up!… I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you at your next Central Labor Council meeting!
In Solidarity,
Ann Marie Taliercio, President
Central New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO
