On Saturday, the Central New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO joined a nationwide movement to say 'Hands Off' of crucial programs like Social Security and Medicare and show support for our labor family, among many other important issues our country is facing. In this critical moment, labor must stand united.

In Binghamton, Ithaca, Oswego, and Syracuse, union members and friends of labor showed up with thousands of community members. The message was clear - Central New Yorkers are fed up with these attacks. This is not a political issue, it is a moral issue. Hundreds of thousands of union workers are being unjustly fired in the federal government. Countless more are being affected by actions that are restricting funding to research programs. Proposed cuts to social programs will harm millions of retirees and working families.

I am thankful that so many of our friends in labor got out to show that we will not stand idly while our union family gets hurt. But we need our whole united voice to come together. The next national day of action will be on May Day, May 1st. Will you be counted among those Union Members willing to tell the Administration, "Hands Off" our Unions and Our Rights as Americans?

At this time the next resistance event planned is a Town Hall Meeting for Claudia Tenney this Saturday. More information can be found below. The President of Oswego Labor Council, Casey Walpole will be speaking. Stay tuned to this newsletter for the next rally near you.
