February is Black History Month. And while we celebrate Black labor leaders and union members, both past and present, who have advanced real change, we won’t ignore the moment we find ourselves in right now. 

Without question, the National Labor Relations Board during the Biden years did more to support workers and union organizing than any period in memory.

What we do know is this – the 46-year-old Syracuse man died at work. He was a custodian at a charter school which have expanded throughout Central New York in recent decades – the Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS).

We are fortunate in the Capital Region to have Albany Medical Center, the region’s largest hospital and the only Level 1 trauma center between Canada and Westchester. Our members and their families, nearly 240,000 in the Capital Region, rely on Albany Med for care.
